The Fuller Center for Housing
VSI to Participate in Second Millard Fuller Legacy Build
Although Millard Fuller, Founder of The Fuller Center for Housing and co-founder of Habitat for Humanity International passed away in 2009, his legacy of providing quality housing for those in need lives on.
VSI is pleased to participate in the second annual Millard Fuller Legacy Build September 6 - 10, 2010, in Indianapolis, Indiana. VSI member companies are providing vinyl siding certified through the VSI Product Certification Program and VSI Certified Trainers will educate volunteers on proper vinyl siding installation for new houses for 10 deserving families in the Fountain Square Area of Indianapolis.
"VSI is honored to participate in our second Millard Fuller Legacy Build," said VSI President and CEO Jery Y. Huntley. "As much as we miss Millard, it helps to know that he has inspired several generations to continue building quality homes for those that need it most."
Vinyl siding certified through the VSI Product Certification Program is independently verified to meet or exceed the industry standard for performance, staying true to Mr. Fuller's legacy of quality, while Certified Trainers have taken VSI's training course in order to teach the proper installation techniques to construct a durable home exterior that will retain its beauty for years to come.
"As Millard always said, you can put vinyl siding on a house and drive by 10 years later, and it still looks as good as the day you installed it," said Mr. Fuller's widow, Linda Fuller.
Since the Fuller Center for Housing was founded in 2005, VSI members have donated vinyl siding, accessories, and training in support of Mr. Fuller's mission.
VSI members also supported the first Millard Fuller Legacy Build in 2009, supplying enough certified vinyl siding to construct six new homes and rehabilitated another in Mr. Fuller's hometown of Lannett, Alabama. Linda Fuller, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn, VSI representatives (pictured at right) and more than 300 other volunteers participated.
